Manual translation does not work. How to fix it?

Modified on Tue, 18 Jun at 12:59 PM

I have set the default language to English and the target language to Italian. I changed the word 'Home' in my store menu to 'Home' in German, but on the storefront, the word 'Home' is still being automatically translated. Why is this happening?

Answer:

The word 'Home' is in English, so when you switch your store to Italian, our AI Translation detects it as an English word and translates it to Italian. This is the expected behavior.

However, in your specific case, you want to keep the word 'Home' in English while using the Italian language setting. To achieve this, we will need to add custom code to your menu to exclude the word 'Home' from being translated. Please note that after making this change, the word 'Home' will not be translated into any language, including Italian, Spanish, or any other target language.
